Nick Tsergas

Nick Tsergas is a Canadian researcher, journalist, and public-interest technologist whose work spans public policy, health systems, civic-tech, and investigative work.

He founded Canada Healthwatch in 2023 and served as its founding editor through 2026, building it into one of Canada's leading independent publications covering health policy, health systems, and medical research. His reporting and editorial work has been cited across healthcare, government, academia, and the media.

Nick is also the creator of Radar, a next-generation news intelligence platform that uses machine learning to help journalists, researchers, policymakers, and the public make sense of fast-moving information environments. His work increasingly focuses on the design of public-interest information architecture, combining journalism, software engineering, data analysis, and policy research.

He was a Journalism and Health Impact Fellow at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health (University of Toronto). His writing has appeared in the BMJ, the Toronto Star, and Canadian Affairs, and he is a regular commentator on radio and podcasts.

His work has influenced policy discussions at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels. His work ranks in the top 1% of research outputs ever tracked by Altmetric.
